The Sketches are working notes and drawings for layering the colors and shapes of the paintings to be realized. Also memories of art pieces or patterns encountered in Museums, as well as conceptual thoughts about the meaning of my work. They are also drawn during the working process and are traces of my time schedule studio's organization, because silkscreen printing process requires a lot of different stages like cutting the rolls of paper, cutting the ruby films, cleaning and exposing the silkscreen frames, choosing the colors and scheduling the printing, shooting the paintings etc...

This exhibition is entitled: The Four Pillars of Heaven; it's a bit in reference to all tribal societies that always have a center of the world somewhere, they are the Axis mundis. The places where one can communicate with an elsewhere. We live today only on one horizontal plane and other cultures also live on a more vertical plane, (in other dimensions). We can also feel this in cathedrals, but this vertical plane is much higher within shamans for example.

Thank you very much Nicolas, good evening everyone! It's really a pleasure to see you all here together for this beautiful exhibition! I've been living here in Besançon for a very long time (15 years) and I've known two curators before and I've always tried to make this museum open to contemporary art. And finally, it is opening there, thanks to you Nicolas! I think this is good news for all the artists here tonight...
In parallel with the major exhibition La Chine rêvée by François Boucher, the Musée des Beaux-arts et d'Archéologie will house Les quatre piliers du ciel , a monumental installation by the Franco-New York painter Jean-Pierre Sergent. Exactly 72 paintings on Plexiglas, chosen from the series of Entropic Suites and presented on eight panels facing the four corners of the two main staircases.
